From entry order effects in glossary Statistics for HCI: Making Sense of Quantitative Data
One of a number of ways in which measurements may be related to one another, which can occur where, for example, a test compares a user using a particular interface followed by the same user using a different interface. Types of order effects include: positive learning effects, where the user is better at the second interface because they have already become familiar with the application while using the first; and interference effects, where the user does less well in the second interface because they have got used to the features of the first.
